about epubcafé

This site, prepared and updated by East Co. Ltd. and JEPA (Japan Electronic Publishing Association ), intends to freely inform our EPUB3 activities to not only Japan but also to worldwide who are interested in EPUB3 and EGLS (Enhanced Global Language Support) features.    

EPUB is an eBook format being published and updated by IDPF (International Digital Publishing Forum). EPUB3 is the major updates coming soon in which EGLS features such as vertical writing, tate-cyu-yoko, flexible fonts support including various glyphs, text emphasis, etc. are included. These features, not enabled by the previous version of EPUB2.0.1, are essential to truly represent writing articles for CJK countries. We have been working closely with IDPF in order to prevail the new standard in Japan and the rest of CJK countries. 
The site also intends to give any latest topics and specific information to publishers, authors and developers who plan to adopt EPUB3 to own books and products.
